Pallid Floating Creatures
BJ Woodworth
Fabulous floating formations
assorted, unique, and distinct
coming alone then clustering together
unaccompanied in community
brief in beauty
scarcely noticed
pittering pattering,
dropping disregarded
fluttering and filling… fluttering and filling
fluttering and filling… fluttering and filling
gleaming and twinkling
with their radiant presence
stuffing cramming and jamming
so small and seemingly insignificant
falling to a fleeting death
the lessons to be learned from the crystal white breath
blown by the wind
out of control
no destiny other than the one they were created for
no pilot or co-pilot only the breath
only the breath…
guiding them, blowing them and sending them
to silently fall and beautify
clinging to limbs as ornaments
covering the ground like a soft blanket
purposeful and beautiful in their purpose
the wonder amazes me
for WE... for WE
are fabulous floating formations
crafted with relentless attention to detail
not one the same
yet unrecognized, unnoticed and often unfulfilled
our splendor overlooked
blanketing the earth
ornamental stewards
signs and signals of the Sovereign
overflowing potential for beatification
yet wielding our reflection for destruction
competing instead of uniting
vying for space,
racing past grace
striving for biggest and best
in control, ignoring the rest
calculated, designers and planners
mastering our own destiny
bolstering against the wind
flying against the breath
the breath…
the breath that birthed us
the wind that will carry us to places unknown
to beatify and dignify
make me like the fabulous floating formations
A’ sail in your breath
