Mexico Mission Trip – August 11 – 18, 2012
with Mission Partners Dr. Luis & Karla Hurtado
This Open Door will be partnering with Memorial Park Church in the North Hills as well as Pastor Arturo Velasco of the Leon de Judah church in Mexico City. We will travel to Mexico City where we will meet up with Pastor Arturo and their team. We’ll travel together north to the State of San Luis Potosi where we will serve Dr. Luis and Karla Hurtado.
Luis is a medical doctor who has established a clinic among the Pame people in the village of El Huizachal. There is a small church there as well. The Pame are indigenous Mexicans who speak the native language. They call themselves Xi’úi. So, there will be English, Spanish and Pame!
Luis and Karla are preparing four projects for the team.
- We will be helping to complete and improve the clinic building.
- We will be helping with a prototype garden that will demonstrate several methods of improving crop production.
- We will be building relationships with the local people through soccer, work with kids and prayer walking and visiting people in the community.
- We will have a medical component that will work with Dr. Hurtado.
The cost per person for this trip is $1,300. We will all be involved in team fund raising to offset costs and to invite our congregation to be our sending team.
